Last week we had a show that i co-produced with a couple other members from Piano Fight called the Pants Off Dance Off!!! which featured diverse dance companies from around the Bay Area. I also choreographed a new work for Alex Jenkins and myself aka BIG TROUBLE with all of the movement being informed by the super long title.

We had one of the best times ever onstage performing and I wanted to share with you some feedback from one of our friends and fellow PF company member Evan Winschester. He pretty much nailed it.

Hey Brian and Alex, Here is some off the cuff response... my subjective experience of your guys piece, which I really enjoyed.

The title no doubt set me up to think about these things.

Turn it on / turn it off made me think of Book of Mormon,
where one of the possibly closeted Mormon leads has a song called "turn
it off". This song from Book of Mormon is all about shutting down
thought, and just plugging along with your head in the sand.

So when I saw the piece, I saw some real yearning
for connection (like when you end a scene reaching for each other but
the lights cut before connection is made), passion, beautiful dance, and
it was juxtaposed with a kind of nihilistic partying mode. I say
nihilistic because of the more overt symbolism, like the fascist hand
raised in the background, and how easily it returns to a state of
partying. Some of it was really, really funny, like Alex when you are
prepping in the mirror before going out for the night. I think it nicely
hits a superficial note, but gently, and not in a mean spirited way.
The pathos comes from juxtaposing the two styles - surface and fun /
trouble and yearning.

Otherwise I just want to say it was really fun
watching you guys switch between modes. The music was great. On that
note, having very recognizable music like that is a good way to
introduce even the more avant garde dance to a more general audience.
"Here's something you know... here's something you don't." Inviting and
it feels contemporary.

The first time you speak, Brian, it's very dramatic.

The cuts in and out of music are nice, especially how abrupt some of them are.

posted below is a short clip of the "R Kelly/#dookiecrew section which is a personal fav.

Sorry about the lack of post on this site. Sometimes a man has to continue on with his life and neglect the interweb. With that said this summer has been one of the best ever and I'm thrilled to share it with all of my 24 followers but you'll have to wait til Monday. There will be new pics from sold out shows, skateboarding, music and a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT along with rolling out a few new crews from the TAGsf camp so be on the look out for all of that biz.

Until then here is some music that has been tying me over as of late.

see y'all soon.
Last year was such an amazing year to appreciate they're music with the release of they're new studio album The King of Limbs along with four extra singles and the TKOL Remix album. Through all of the music madness with the band releasing new music throughout the entire year I found a new site called The King of Limbs part 2 which suggest in its title that there might be a second part of the album. TKOL2 quickly became a favorite site of mine with regular updates on the band and what they're up to along with fan made videos and art work pertaining to the music. A little community. I recently sent the web master Josh Kirkpatrick a list of questions about the site and its origins and he was kind enough to answer. Read the post below and enjoy.

1. Why start the King of Limbs part 2?

I started the TKOL2 blog after reading some of the initial rumors of there being a second part to The King Of Limbs. I kept finding all of these different things, but they were scattered between several sites and message boards and it was really hard to keep up with, so I brought all of the information to one place. I really never thought it would grow to the level that it did.

2.
<span style="font: 7pt "Times New Roman";"> How did you feel once TKOL2 started getting a lot of hits and even featured in RollingStone music magazine?

I was really shocked to see it on Rolling Stone, that was really the first big site that mentioned the site. And I've met so many people from all of the world that I probably wouldn't have met otherwise.

website: The King of Limbs part 2
TAGsfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11468145684472661892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5683647247670085555.post-57827991596564922952012-01-26T20:13:00.000-08:002012-01-26T20:14:07.086-08:00money in the bankTAGsfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11468145684472661892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5683647247670085555.post-64468921114025238372012-01-01T15:11:00.000-08:002012-01-01T15:19:12.804-08:00

Happy New Years.

TAGsfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11468145684472661892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5683647247670085555.post-90847623243935819192011-12-19T16:24:00.000-08:002011-12-19T16:26:21.733-08:00SNL ShortCheck out this funny SNL short with special guest Jimmy Fallon featuring duets with Micheal Buble.

smella funny

TAGsfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11468145684472661892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5683647247670085555.post-7970796074820734322011-12-15T13:03:00.000-08:002011-12-15T13:07:52.010-08:00Grey. What happened to love of the game? More like "Love of the money."

Now going back to the regular post pertaining to the last chapter in the Christopher Nolan Batman saga............

The third film coming out next summer is titled The Dark Knight Rises which is the last in the Batman series directed by Nolan. Christian Bale said that this is the last time that he will rock the cape crusaders costume if y'all fools don't believe me read the quote below.

"I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it's all done. Everything's finished. It's me and Chris – that will be the end of that Batman era."

I think its best to go out with a bang instead of eventually giving Batman nipples on his suit and a cock piece like some other jizz collectors named Joel Schumacher. Nolan confirms that this is not only going to be the end of the franchise but its also going to be fucking epic.

"It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story," he told Empire Magazine. "We left him in a very precarious place.

"Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state."

Everyone who has seen The Dark Knight knows that Joker fucked shit up so hard for Bats that my man had to go into hiding to save Gotham Citys punk asses so it makes sense that Bats needed time for himself to think over some things like dressing up as a damn Bat and fighting crime. Real talk yall. The best part of TDKR is the villain Bane played by the English(does anyone else find it strange that the whole motherfucking cast of an American iconic comic are all played by foreigners? The US needs to step up its talent game) actor Tom Hardy. Hardy says this about Bane which makes me feel better about myself knowing that Im always right and should keep going with my gut because this fool will straight up Curb stomp fools.

“He’s brutal. Brutal. He’s a big dude who’s incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It’s not about fighting. It’s about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action.”

The costume designer had this to say about el Baneo

“He was injured early in his story. He’s suffering from pain and needs gas to survive. He can’t survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at his back, where there are two canisters.”

So the overall impression about Bane is that hell beat your ass into next Tuesday.

This film can not come out soon enough but you can catch the Six min teaser trailer during the Mission Impossible film this month. Im gonna go see the film not only for that reason but also because my brothers and I always see a shit film for the Holidays so I know what were gonna see:)

bTAGsfhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11468145684472661892noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5683647247670085555.post-47334553941141450122011-11-27T19:58:00.000-08:002011-11-27T20:12:55.188-08:00Girl Chocolate Trailer

Skate rats rejoice.
