Nacho Duato leaving Spain for Russia

Celebrated Choreographer Nacho Duato has abruptly left his post as artistic director for Compañia Nacional de Danza where he has been for 20 years. Amidst rumors about the administration and him having conflict over the rep because Spain does not have a national Ballet company Duato quit and took his entire rep with him. He will now in a historic move be the Director of the Mikhailovsky Theater in Russia starting Jan, 1st 2011. I must say that Duato is one of the main reasons why i got into contemporary dance, 1st seeing his company at the Lincoln Center 10 years ago while i was at Ailey it was a revelation (no pun intended) for me. Best wishes to him on his new path.

Street League

Now that sports season is over i have nothing else to Jock on until the NBA season starts again. When i say the NBA i mean the LA Lakers. When i say the LA Lakers i mean the "Black Mamba" Kobe Bryant so dont get that shit twisted. Luckily for me pro skater and hustler Rob Dyrdek started the SkateBoarding Street League pro contest with some of the sickest skaters in the game. We got Eric Koston, Prod, Torey Pudwell, Mike Mo, Chris Cole, Billy Marks just to name a few. Here is more information on the league that will also be shown on ESPN.

FUCK YEAH!!!!

heres a video of Torey killing the game on the streets.

ps. Is it weird that i went from dance to skateboarding? Wonder why the blog is called "No Expectations"

THom Yorke TuesdayS

Today we have a special guest blogger doing the TT's by the name of Paul Atreides whos a huge Radiohead fan such as myself. What he did not know was that his selection also has a dance video made by my T.A.G. team featuring the talented Jacoby&Pronk. Killing two birds with one stone so without further doodoo.......THOM YORKE TUESDAYS!

Radiohead – Up On The Ladder

Since it’s been almost three full years since the release of Radiohead’s In Rainbows, I can’t help but feel like the album’s 2nd disc never got the love from fans it deserved. Granted the dividing of tracks between the album’s two discs was a source of much frustration for the band. Thom would want one song on the main album disc, and other band members would want different tracks. The weakest aspect of In Rainbows is certainly the shaky track listing across both parts, that leaves in question that if a band finds peace with what they’ve come up with at some point during the creative process of making an album, can that be as much true artistry as seeing it through to its originally-envisioned conclusion? I say absolutely yes. A great example of a stellar track caught in the limbo of track division politics is “Up On The Ladder”, a stand-out from the 2nd disc. Coated in an eerie groove with crackling phonographs and a subtle driving beat, “Ladder” not only sets the bar for the latter (…ha) half of the album, it gives us a preview of some of the newest flavors Radiohead’s been tasting. Between the solo hits Thom Yorke has been putting out and the individual singles released by the band, I can only hope that if there is a huge-hit new record anywhere on the horizon in the near future, songs like this one will help guide the way.

Maybe we all dream to be.........? from T.A.G.San Francisco on Vimeo.

The Wall

Pics taken from "The Wall" in Studio G of various friends and collaborators.

  1. Shelby working on the guitar for the ButtLicks
  2. Anthony directly before we worked on a untitled Joint
  3. Jeezy working on "Scary as a Motherfucker" for a Halloween dance we did few years back at Urban Art Farm. The night it went on he told me that it might be a little controversial.... Later on we hear some dudes talking while smoking about how the 1st piece of the program was fucked up which of course was my work which he was talking about so Jigga man was correct. We had fun though!

old ad

This is an old ad from a few years back. we were chilling in the Civic Center park in SF at the pride parade and my friend told me to look behind me at this man straight up passed out but clearly sitting in our lil group. I had to take a pic and had to make it into an ad. I think its funny but my humor is somewhat cracked so who the fuck knows?

Inspirations: Bill T. Jones

Today i watched HBO's Master Class series with director choreographer Bill T. Jones. Of course i known of his work and even studied him in school. Most recently i got to see his broadway show Fela! which recently won best musical and choreography at the 2010 Tony awards. Hes such an articulate and passionate man whom you can tell loves what he does which is inspirational because hes been in the game for such a long time yet he's still wanting to grow and challenge himself. Already hes got my gerbal wheels turning just by listening to him.

Lindsay Lohan in court LIVE!

Lindsays ass is in court this morning concerning her probation violations. Lets see if Hollyweirds justice system lives up to its name by doing jack shit with real evidence. Had anyone's else's SCRAM bracelet went off for no reason they would be thrown them under the jail but luckily for Lohan shes got HollyWood magic on her side.

Lets place bets with the mountain of evidence stacked against her that she will walk away a free bird. I need to move to LA!

Free live streaming by Ustream

UPDATE!

That bitch is going to jail for 3 months. 1 month per violation. The real question is do i still need to work on becoming a rich white girl because it seems justice has been served.

My whole world has been rocked.

Freaky Fridays. Maggots on a plane edition

US Airways recently had to delay a plane due to an "small emergency" from Atlanta to Charlotte. The small emergency was MAGGOTS. I have a few things that i wanna say about that because thats not a small lil thing. That shit is gross man.

1st off: I fly US airways cheap ass airlines all the time and they aint ever got any food so i dont know where in the fuck those maggots are coming from because it sure as shit not from the food locker!

2nd off: This just proves how stank US Airways nasty ass really is. Ive been saying this for years now. Mom now you believe me when i say US Airways is broke down?

3rd off: Im in Charlotte right now from a connection through Atlanta. Had that been me on the plane you best believe that i would be traveling to Europe free of charge to go visit my homies.

4th off: How funny would it have been if my man Samuel L. Jackson was onboard that flight. The skies would have been a lot friendlier. Thats all im saying!
