Nacho Duato leaving Spain for Russia

Celebrated Choreographer Nacho Duato has abruptly left his post as artistic director for CompaƱia Nacional de Danza where he has been for 20 years. Amidst rumors about the administration and him having conflict over the rep because Spain does not have a national Ballet company Duato quit and took his entire rep with him. He will now in a historic move be the Director of the Mikhailovsky Theater in Russia starting Jan, 1st 2011. I must say that Duato is one of the main reasons why i got into contemporary dance, 1st seeing his company at the Lincoln Center 10 years ago while i was at Ailey it was a revelation (no pun intended) for me. Best wishes to him on his new path.
